Grandmaster Hee Il Cho has added and changed parts of the traditional Tae Kwon Do curriculum to make it a more effective and well rounded style.
Traditional Tae Kwon Do focuses predominately on dynamic kicking and often lacks effective punching techniques and combinations. Grandmaster Cho has added the punching and foot work of western boxing and fully incorporated it in to his Tae Kwon Do style allowing AIMAA students to mix it with Tae Kwon Do kicks to create an effective stand up fighting style. AIMAA is a progressive association willing to move with the times, this has led AIMAA style Tae Kwon Do to be one of the few Tae Kwon Do styles in the world to recognise the importance of ground fighting. Student of AIMAA will be trained in the basics of grappling to allow them to effectively defend themselves in both a stand up fight and a fight that ends up on the ground.
AIMAA will continue to remain an open minded association ready and willing to incorporate new training methods as they arise, meaning that AIMAA students will be left with a modern and effective style of Tae Kwon Do. |
